Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

Shrimp & Smoked Sausage

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 12 ounces Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage, sliced about 1/4-inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons homemade Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Garlic Butter Parmesan Mushrooms

  • 12 ounces cremini or button mushrooms, sliced or halved
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

🌶️ Homemade Cajun Seasoning

No sugar. No packaged seasoning required.

  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste

Mix all ingredients together and store any extra seasoning in a small airtight container. This makes approximately 3 tablespoons.

👩‍🍳 How to Make It

Make the Shrimp & Smoked Sausage

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage and cook for 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until nicely browned. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Reduce the heat slightly. Add the butter and minced garlic to the same skillet. Sauté for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
  4. Add the shrimp, homemade Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Cook for about 2–3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp are pink and cooked through.
  5. Return the browned sausage to the skillet. Add the fresh lemon juice and toss everything together. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

🍄 Make the Garlic Butter Parmesan Mushrooms

  1. Using the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the mushrooms in a single layer and cook undisturbed for 3–4 minutes so they can brown.
  3. Stir the mushrooms and add the minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 2–3 minutes, until the mushrooms are tender and beautifully browned.
  4. Remove from the heat and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and parsley. Toss gently until coated.

🍽️ To Serve

Spoon the Southern Shrimp & Smoked Sausage Skillet onto each plate and serve with a generous portion of the Garlic Butter Parmesan Mushrooms.

Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
