🌶️ Homemade Cajun Seasoning
No sugar. No packaged seasoning required.
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
Mix all ingredients together and store any extra seasoning in a small airtight container. This makes approximately 3 tablespoons.
👩🍳 How to Make It
Make the Shrimp & Smoked Sausage
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage and cook for 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until nicely browned. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
- Reduce the heat slightly. Add the butter and minced garlic to the same skillet. Sauté for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
- Add the shrimp, homemade Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Cook for about 2–3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp are pink and cooked through.
- Return the browned sausage to the skillet. Add the fresh lemon juice and toss everything together. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
🍄 Make the Garlic Butter Parmesan Mushrooms
- Using the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the mushrooms in a single layer and cook undisturbed for 3–4 minutes so they can brown.
- Stir the mushrooms and add the minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 2–3 minutes, until the mushrooms are tender and beautifully browned.
- Remove from the heat and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and parsley. Toss gently until coated.
🍽️ To Serve
Spoon the Southern Shrimp & Smoked Sausage Skillet onto each plate and serve with a generous portion of the Garlic Butter Parmesan Mushrooms.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
